Ryan Clutterbuck 88

The Metro Toronto Wildcats football club is pretty stoked about their former OVFL All-Star and League Quarterback MVP.

[Sept 3 2006] Ryan Clutterbuck was probably one of the most valuable players to wear the Wildcat Blue and Gold and it looks like the Western Mustangs are starting to see him the same way. "Clutter" was with the Wildcats from 2002 until 2004 and was a key reason behind the turnaround of the Varsity program. In '02 Ryan played as a TE for the Cats but as anyone could see when Ryan threw the ball, he was probably the best arm on the team. His 6'6" frame made him ideal for both positions and in '03 the coaches moved him to the QB position and the rest was MTW history. He became one of the league leaders in passing that year and was a driving force behind the Cats first ever win over the Thunder and the teams quarter final appearance that year. After the season Ryan was told by the Western coaches that they again wanted to move him over to TE so when the '04 season came around Ryan and the MTW coaches agreed to play him at TE to help him develop that skill set for the Mustangs. But it was clear after a 1-3 start to that season that the QB situation was hurting the team. The staff was forced to ask Ryan to consider the move back to QB for the teams own good and much to Clutter's credit he agreed to make the move. And what a move he made. He led the team to 5 straight wins, a semi-final birth, he became an OVFL All-Star and the League Quarterback MVP - all after only 4 regular season games and 2 playoff games. He topped that performance off by winning the McKenna Wildcat Award as the best example of what we want our MTW player to be. Ryan has since become a fixture on the Mustang depth charts, first as #2 in 2004 and moving to #1 last year. Unfortunately, he suffered a fractured collar bone last year against York, but was able to come back for the playoffs. This year Clutter is back and healthy playing at 6'6 and 230 and is slated as starting TE going into the season. Talking about prototype. Ryan still has MTW in his blood and is constantly in touch sending emails in support of the Cats and watching their progress on the website. Ryan was recently featured in a spot on CISFootball.org and as you will see, we are not the only ones who have benefited from Ryans skills:

"Viewed as one to watch in 2006 by Larry Haylor, Clutterbuck rumbled and rolled to 146 yards on seven catches in 2005, his breakout year with the Mustangs. He scored his first career touchdown as a Mustang during Western’s 72-8 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues on September 11, 2004. He finished his rookie campaign with 35 yards on three catches. The Toronto native was a high school teammate of fellow Mustang , running back Nick Kordic. The duo has also played side by side in summer OVFL action with the Toronto Wildcats. Clutterbuck has the odd skill set combination of being able to play both quarterback and tight end as witnessed by him winning top quarterback honours in the OVFL in 2004."
